This Temple’s festival will begin on the first Friday of Tamil Month Aadi, insulation tying and a flag hoist. The festival will be for 13 days. In the festival, Theruvadaichaan, Marriage of Kaarthavarayan & Aaryamala, Muthupallakku, Chariot procession and the 11th day festival will be very important for walking on fire. Following that a game with yellow water and Vidaiyatri (Farewell Function) the Festival will come to an end.

In this Festival, walking on fire is very important. On that day early morning, a special Abhishekam for Ambal will commence with adoration of Deepam. On that day the devotes will pierce tiny spears on their body, take kaavadi and milk vessels and pray. If any part of the body has to be healed, they give offerings of Male/Female idols, eyes, heart, hands or legs and the same will be cured by Ambal.

They offer Sarees to Ambal, do Archanas and lit Flour Deepam (Maavilakku) and say that long term illness will be healed. If cradle is tied and prayed, they will get babies and lit Flour Deepam upon the stomach, all the ailments of the stomach will be healed.

In the same way, tying hearse (Paadai) and worshipping is also one of the modes of prayer here. On that day they will decorate the vehicle as hearse and the devotees will lie down and go round the Temple, pray to Ambal and all types of diseases will be cured by doing so . Hence the Hearse (Paadai) worship is famous here.

Moreover, rolling over the ground around the Temple (Angaprathashnam) is also famous here. Angam means body; Prathashnam means going around; Rolling over the ground around the Temple by the devotees is known as Angaprathashnam. The devotees believe that their ailments will be cured by doing this.

On that day, Shakthi Karagam will be taken and a small spear (Alagu) offering to Ambal will be the special occasion. This means, by this, Ambal has granted her blessings to begin the arrangements for walking on the fire. After this, they will carry the vessel of fire in procession and fire the pit which is made for walking. From that moment on, Ambal would appear with a fiery face.

The main event is the Fire walking which starts at 5.00 p.m. Brings together all the powers that guard the people, come down the street to the play the Nadhaswara-Melam, Tharai-Thappattai, Pambai-Udukkai rhythms, to chant the slogan of Om Shakthi-Parashakthi, Shakthi Karagam with the entourage will first descend into the fire pit with ecstasy. The Fire Walking event, which continuous until 9.00 p.m Devotees from nearby, around the city, outside the city and also from other state and abroad will come and more than 5 thousand devotees will walk on the fire and fulfil their prayers.

The Vidaiyaatri and Manjal Neer Vilaiyaattu festival will conclude in the next two days.
